Memento; A mind shifting experience for the audience, put in the conceit the main character lives through, readjusting our readings of scenes every 5 minutes. The extremely talented cast sell the film noir roots, acting seedy while sewing uncertainty of their true intentions. Brilliant editing; A+

Oppenheimer

Oppenheimer; What happens when you gather the greatest talents in the industry & they make something so technically marvellous on every level, one wonders why they chose to make this, of all things. Compelling, but like most Nolan work, more cerebral than emotionally moving; A-
 

Tenet

Tenet; A film that seems to demand a second viewing, yet without enough to entice us to actually want to do so. Some scenes certainly look cool, and Washington is as cool an actor as there ever was. The time muddled plot works if we care to follow along, and that’s a big “if”; B-

Dunkirk

Dunkirk; Masterful recreation lacks emotional connection. Enemy absent on screen is an interesting choice, as well as the overdominant score. Intense in the moment with little lasting resonance afterwards. B+

Interstellar

Interstellar; Nolan gives us a thought provoking, emotionally driven, visual tour de force. His vision is unmatched & trendsetting; A-

The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises; Thank you, Mr. Nolan, for truly getting ALL the characters of the Gotham universe & for a trilogy w/o a weak film; A-
