Mufasa: The Lion King

Mufasa: The Lion King; Miranda has lost his golden touch, as the songs are cringe inducing. The animation is spectacular but the stylized nature of using photo realistic rendering for fantastical elements seems to clash with its own ambitions. The result is off putting both aurally and visually; C

Nope; Creepily crafted horror with nods to cinematic greats, a Jaws for the current generation. Finely cast and cleverly paced, peeling back layers towards a thrilling climax, with plenty of allegory to dissect afterwards. What you’d expect, while offering plenty of surprises; A-

Crash; Stellar performances by many (notably Cheadle) can’t save this film from its misguided examination of racism using a soft lens. The movie means well but doesn’t dig deep enough to provide a true meaningful examination yet isn’t very subtle about its intentions either; B-
