Sonic the Hedgehog 3; Keanu brings gravitas to voicing Shadow, while double Jim Carrey gives us Sellers levels of insane high jinks. Action propels forward, ignoring some logistics but it’s all good on account of Schwartz’s ability to make us enjoy the cute critters as enthusiastically as he does; B

Sonic the Hedgehog 2; Knows how to have fun with CGI characters and over the top villains. Apart from a weird side story involving a Bridezilla and FBI agents, when focused on Sonic and friends and Carrey’s robot dreams the film offers thrills and chuckles aplenty; B-

Sonic the Hedgehog; Not quite the caliber of video game human world hybrid as Pokémon, even w/Jim Carrey in classic plastic faced villain form. Aside from the laughs he provides, not much to get excited about. Feels like a Hop retread w/Marsden talking to a CGI animal again; C+

The Old Man & the Gun; Distinctively throwback in its storytelling & design. Actors shine in style of 70s filmmaking, quietly owning the screen & our hearts. Redford is a revelation, reminding us how great he is. The definition of “they don’t make ‘em like they used to.”; B+
