Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid; There aren’t very many perfect films. This may very well be one of them. Gorgeously shot, capturing stunning vistas along with two ridiculously talented leads playing off each other with screen scorching charisma. Every minute is a cinematic masterpiece; A+

Slap Shot; A relic of a bygone era that oddly has echoes of influence in our time. Sexism, homophobia, and rampant misogyny aside, the film certainly informed future comedies like Anchorman and Dodgeball. Difficulty distinguishing what’s parody and what’s sincere makes it a fascinating watch; B-

Cool Hand Luke

Cool Hand Luke; Slow moving homoerotic existential Christ parable speaks to the mixed bag this film is. Talent involved is undeniable but for every stylish shot & superbly subtle performance there’s a heavy handed oddly framed head scratcher. Would rather read than watch this; C+

The Hustler

The Hustler; Pool halls and the game of pool have never looked so good. Solid performances compel viewing through what could be trimmed down about half an hour or so. Still, tension and tragedy build character in a meditation on breaking and sinking through life; A-
