Bullet Train

Bullet Train; Owes its tone to mid to late 90s films in the vein of Guy Ritchie and Tarantino. Funny, well choreographed, kinetically paced with excellent casting in all roles. A throwback that feels as fresh and fun as Pitt seems to be having delivering pure entertainment; B+

Crash

Crash; Stellar performances by many (notably Cheadle) can’t save this film from its misguided examination of racism using a soft lens. The movie means well but doesn’t dig deep enough to provide a true meaningful examination yet isn’t very subtle about its intentions either; B-

Bird Box

Bird Box; A running premise that never fulfills, yet manages to be creepy over the duration of the film. An unsatisfying finish will leave you wishing you had the time spent given back to you, as the conceit ultimately rings hollow; C

Minions

Minions; Aims to please a target audience of 2-12, with adult asides that fall flat. Less inspired than despicable, exactly as expected; C+
