Death of a Unicorn; A wild premise thinly executed, quickly veers into horror when greater themes and angles could be explored. Still, the ensemble is incredible and play off each other fantastically well. A trailer that intrigues but ends up half baked, with some great moments, lines and sights; B

Argylle; Give in to absurdity of this premise & enjoy the ride. Ignore the horrible casting of Howard & relish in Rockwell & rest of cast executing this work to a level Vaughn is envisioning. Hilarious, preposterous & fully in on the joke, by the time the skating happens, you’re either in or out; B

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie; Innovative set pieces alongside pedestrian yet still enjoyable numbers give this stirring musical some added heft and reverence amongst the all too convenient dynamics. Best when pushing the powerful history of drag over melodramatic moments; B

Corpse Bride

Corpse Bride; Artistry is unmistakably fantastic & beautiful but something about the script, characters & songs are regrettably unremarkable & easily forgettable. Very hard to get into & stay invested in. Never really establishes a reason to root for anyone or connect w/them; C+

Hudson Hawk

Hudson Hawk; Silly caper seems to be 2 (or 3) movies happening simultaneously. One is an overblown action film, the other is a farcical sendup of Indiana Jones style quests, (the 3rd a wacky romcom). If you’re game, it may all work as a wild stew but may leave others puzzled; B-

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms; Lavish production and costuming can’t dress up or disguise this dud. The film’s best aspects are its hundred years old musical score and brief dance performance. Disney would have been better off filming and releasing the stage ballet; D+
